The secret behind Freddie Mercury's teeth...

Updated: Jun 21, 2021

One of the most iconic 80's singers was undoubtably Queen's Freddie Mercury. Apart from his moustache, his front teeth determined his appearance. How come they were so pronounced and why didn't he have them fixed...?

Well, imagine how you would look if you had 4 extra teeth... Yep, he had a condition called "mediodens". In his case, he had four extra teeth in his upper jaw, which caused his front teeth to be pushed forward.

Although he was ashamed of this (some claim he grew the moustache to cover things up a little), he refused to get this fixed, because he was afraid that it would change the (remarkable) range of his voice. And apart from that, they kinda were his trademark. Hail to Freddie anyways!
